Find your Classic Beauty Icon!

Image via Wikipedia
"HAVE A DIVA-licious DAY"

Hello everyone, Okay I came across this test and thought it was great, and as usual I love to share with my readers awesome information that I receive.  So the questionaire is just a tool to get you to thinking about what type of style you are or have a tendency to be.  Please take it and have fun.  Maybe you will discover something about yourself you did not know or you may think that you liked something but you find you really don't. Enjoy,

Are you a sultry sex siren, a laid-back beach babe, or an elegant glamour girl? Take this quiz to find your beauty icon and the decade where your sense of style fits!

~ 1 of 8 ~

1. You're often told your most attractive feature is:

Your unique sense of style and ability to make any trend your own.

Your megawatt smile and boisterous laugh.

Your sexy doe eyes.

Your effortless sense of style and grace.

Your clean-cut good looks and outgoing nature.
~ 2 of 8 ~

2. You feel most confident when you are wearing:

A totally original (and sometimes out there) look you've pulled together from what's in your closet.

A stylish, curve-hugging ensemble.

An eye-catching swimsuit with beach-sexy hair.

Anything that exudes elegance — whether it's a party dress or cigarette pants and a cardigan.

It depends — you can go from a sophisticated dress and heels one day to donning sneakers and jeans the next.

3. Your favorite hair style is:

Tousled, undone waves.

A sophisticated updo or short pixie cut.

One that changes monthly! You'll try anything once, even streaks of bold color.

Sculpted with lots of volume.

A head full of wild curls.

~ 4 of 8 ~

4. When shopping for shoes, you find yourself gravitating toward:

Any shoe with an interesting feature: a rhinestone ornament, a peep toe, or some alligator fabric. It's all in the details.

A sexy pair of thigh-high leather boots (or, hey, even combat boots!).

Heels — the higher the better! Comfort takes a backseat to style.

Timeless staples you can get lots of wear out of, like classic pumps or Converse sneakers.

Summery sandals or flats — you like looking pretty yet casual.

5. Your jewelry box holds:

Your favorite watch, diamond studs, and a few delicate gold chains.

Big hoop earrings, studded leather bracelets, and necklaces of all colors and sizes. You love to accessorize!

Not much — just a few treasured pieces you've collected over the years

Anything jewel-encrusted — from cocktail rings to necklaces to bracelets.

Strand after strand of luxurious pearls.

Which of the following describes the contents of your makeup bag?

All the latest products from your favorite cosmetic counter — you never leave the house without a full face of superglam makeup!

Select items from the same luxe makeup and skin-care line you've used for years.

What makeup bag? You usually wear nothing but a bit of moisturizer with SPF.

Many, many colors and varieties of mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, and lip color. Any beauty trend that comes along, you'll usually try it at least once.

Just the basics — concealer, mascara, and a touch of lip gloss.

~ 8 of 8 ~

8. On a dream dinner date, you're at a candlelit table for two. You'd hope to be with:

A chivalrous, handsome gentleman who oozes integrity.

An intense, athletic man with a mysterious personality and killer good looks.

A suave, sophisticated, and sexy European lover.

A laid-back family man who is crazy about you.

Your lovable longtime partner who still has your heart.

Okay so I took the test and the this is what my results were. Although I do agree with some of it I can say that I would never have put myself in the catagory with Madonna by no means. But it was fun anyway. Hope you enjoyed the thought provoking questions. Me

You're Madonna
what??????????

1980s style chameleon who pushes the envelope

Unconventional and stylishly confident, you’re a beauty trendsetter whom others are captivated by. Though she’s just as relevant today, Madonna’s flashy rocker-chic look is synonymous with the 80s, and like her, you’re anything but boring. You love to experiment with makeup, hair, and fashion, and everyone knows it. Those around you see you as daring and seductive, but you back up your looks with magnetism, brains, and plenty of ambition. Others can’t wait to see what look you’ll pull off next — and you enjoy keeping them guessing.

Modern-day kindred spirits include Rihanna, Chloƫ Sevigny, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and Pink.

Took the photoImage via Wikipedia
"HAVE A DIVA-licious DAY"

I received this article from one of my fashion sources and I decided to share.  The article is about wearing Black fingernail polish, which believe it or not, I do happen to like the look.  I am not especially fond of the look in the article but I did see an article with another model and her nails where short and square and she had black nail polish on it look very nice.
Of course I realize that the color black on the nails is not everyones cup of tea, and when we think of black nails we automatically think Goth.  But it actually can look very classy and elegant if done correctly and worn at a length that is short.  So if you have never tried this look maybe your should, my moto is nothing ventured nothing gained. Enjoy the article.

The truth is that it is a trend that I like, and favors me most of the time, but you have to be careful. It is a look that can be super elegant, but if you're not careful, it could be the opposite.

So in today's tip I will tell you some secrets so that you don't make any mistakes:

Wear your nails short and well filed.

If you have small hands, file your nails long to make the fingers appear finer.

If you are wearing dark nails, make sure that they are always impeccable; there is nothing less glamorous than wearing broken nails, especially if they are dark because it will be more noticeable.

Also dark matte colors, they favor less than the ones that are glossy, (you can apply a gloss layer on top).

Always apply nail protector, because dark colors can get your nails dirty.

If you are using dark nail polish, go changing the style with a lighter varnish, and let your nails rest a couple days per week

Style Q&A

Question:

My goal for 2010 is to create a style that reflects my personality. My look has been stuck in college-casual mode for 10 years. I'm over it! Where do I start?

Natalie M.

— Toronto, Canada

Answer:

Step out of the college years and into a new decade, Natalie. Start with things that inspire you: favorite colors, films, art or music. Whose style do you admire? Ask yourself what you want your look to say about you? Fashion is no different now than when you played dress-up as a child, so don't take things too seriously and be willing to try things on. You can always take them off! Shoes are a great place to start changing things up. The right shoe can transform many an outfit.

Style question? Fab pics of you in your ShoeDazzle shoes? Email us and we may feature you in a future newsletter. Note, we cannot respond to every message.

Mineral Diva Eyes in all the colors needed to complete these looks.

Change is what New Year's resolutions are all about. Every year, we resolve to evolve, and the new decade demands nothing short of a total revolution! So say goodbye to yester-you and let these infallible trends encourage some brave, image-renovating style!

We dare you to…

Strap in!

LUXE & HARLEY 2010 will undoubtedly be a wild ride; especially if you take our challenge to step out of your comfort zone and into the fashion forefront with strappy boots and pumps. Harley races full throttle into a new era of fashion all wrapped up in overlapping straps and buckles. Skinny jeans and leggings? Predictable. Instead, showcase your multi-dimensional side by pairing dominatrix boots with a demure knee-length skirt or shirtdress at the office or art gallery opening. Utterly chic and unexpected. No less chic, but with a softer side, Luxe combines the coverage of slouchy leg-warmers with the toe-exposure of a sexy sandal. Confused? Definitely not. The "sleeve" look is sure to be one of the biggest trends of the year. At the long end of things, play up the ankle emphasis with high-contrast leggings in liquid mercury or electric 80's hues. At the short end, a mini-skirt in black is easy, but we promise you'll have more fun in 2010 with the new LBD (little bright dress) and lots of leg. Maintain your mettle with metal accessories in silver and pewter with either style. What we love about the strappy trend is that it offers daring biker toughness while giving us sufficient coverage to feel warm and secure in our fashion statements for the new decade.

Flaunt some curves!

DivaGlam 88 Shades in Matte

CORINNA & BOULEVARD With shoes like Boulevard and Corinna, the only curves people will be staring at will be on your feet! Boulevard flaunts its curves and your ankle with its distinctive vamp, while Corinna's curvaceous heel is sure to make others take notice when you walk away. With sexy cutouts and a little peek of skin, these shoes are the perfect way to introduce some sex appeal into any outfit. Pair Boulevard with something flowy and feminine, like a brightly colored wrap dress or a floral patterned, floor length dress, for some contrast. Corinna will spice up a black or grey high-waisted wool skirt, turtleneck sweater and richly-hued scarf. Some patterned tights would make the look complete. Go get 'em girls!

Bolt toward spring!

ENVY & BILLIE Studious style mavens will attest to the fact that studs and brads will remain firmly embedded in the fashion scene through the next few seasons. For those of you looking to stay one step ahead, try forecasting the coming season in Envy or Billie. Yes that's right; an off-season prelude to spring in a riveting, riveted shoe is the perfect way to overhaul your look without risk of faux pas. Whereas you might pair Envy with vibrant peacock hues for spring, hint at jewel tones with muted, sorbet versions of purple and teal. Billie prefers mauve and peach to coral and orange. For both, dare to avoid centurion looks; instead, seek out voluminous pieces like gauzy cardigans and ballet skirts that, while light and colorful, still echo the hazy days of winter that (unfortunately) stand between your fashion fast-forward style and the current season. Transition the intensity of your color choices with the changing weather and onlookers will continue to be dazzled by your studded style well into spring.

Shoe selections for this month (January 2010)

Boulevard

The key to rocking a snakeskin print is learning to embrace the rich variety of colors captured in every shade of tan in Boulevard’s faux python upper. Boulevard is essentially a nude shoe that will match many a skin tone while creating interest that won’t leave you fading into the background. Her dual zipper trim accentuates the organic curve of her distinctive vamp. The rib cage cutouts and peep toe allow your skin tone to add yet another layer of color to the mix, giving Boulevard more depth and interest than you would find in a solid-colored heel. Because her design is so organic, you can select pieces that either contrast or mimic Boulevard’s gentle curves. For a casual day look, try skinny jeans in a dark wash with a color-blocked top in blush and tan. At a loss for the perfect top? Create the look with a pastel pink blouse and tan cinch belt. The contrast created where colors meet are the perfect counterpart to Boulevard’s sensuous silhouette. When night falls, switch gears and slip into something flowing and feminine. I’m thinking a silk wrap dress with an abstract print in peacock tones would be perfect! A little snakeskin goes a long way…

Exercise done the SKECHERS WAY

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE.  I just want to say that during this time of year many of us begin to think about our lives and what we did this year and what we would like to do in the coming New Year, Well I am no different than you.

For Christmas my husband got me the Skechers tennis shoes.  When you walk you can lose weight and strenghten back muscles, tone leg calfs, help to correct posture etc.  I got them and was happy to do so because like most of you I want to lose a few pounds in the coming year.  So with that said I began my journey to health with these shoes.

Shape-Ups are designed to:

•Promote weight loss

•Strengthen the back

•Firm calf and buttock muscles

•Reduce cellulite and tone your thighs

•Increase cardiovascular health

•Improve posture

The first day I wore them I must have worn them for tooooooo long because I started to complain to my daughter that my back was hurting and then she reminded me that you are suppose to break the shoes in and wear them a little at a time until you get use to walking the correct way.  Needless to say when I got home I took them off, but I will say that I do feel a difference in my back and stomach muscles, which is great because if you are anything like me I hate to exercise, and will not go to a Gym for all to see me!
This was my second day wearing them and I did not walk as much in them as the first day but I love them.
So if you are out there and thought about getting a pair and you are anything like me and hate the idea of a gym or any kind of scheduled exercise, try these shoes.  Of course they will never take the place of regular scheduled exercise but at least as you go about your regular day you can make a difference in your body.
Until next time then,  Stay DIVA-licious.......

NEW FOR SPRING China Glaze Nail Polish

This week I want to share with ALL of you the BEAUTIFUL NEW COLORS that are coming for Spring 2010.  These colors remind me of candy.
If you are a youngster (smile) then by all means go all out and apply whatever color you want to.  For those of us who are over the 20ish phase (smile) we should be a little more discriminative in our choices.  However, on our feet we can always be as daring as we want.

I love color on the feet.  It is a good place to be loud and daring and as wild with color as you want.  In fact color on the feet in a pair of sandles or open toe shoes look amazing.  So with said, go all out everyone and express your inner DIVA with color this Spring.

My source that wrote this article suggests that you experiment with the polish because of the texture and thickness, until you get it just right.  If you are a true Diva like myself, I just have a professional do it for me!  That way you are sure to get it right.

Remember what I always tell you, whatever the fashion trend take it and make it YOUR OWN.

Enjoy,

China Glaze Up & Away Collection Review Round-up

The twelve shades from Up & Away are all creme finish, which means that they’re creamy and have absolutely no shimmer whatsoever. I didn’t find these the easiest to apply from the beginning, but I did find that after I initially applied three or four of them, I started to figure out what worked and what didn’t for these. I did, however, really love the range of shades included in this launch and really felt like they covered the entire rainbow.

Temptalia Recommendations

Must-Haves: Four Leaf Clover, Sugar High, Re-Fresh Mint

Nice-to-Haves: Something Sweet, Lemon Fizz, Flyin’ High, Light As Air

Here are some tips I learned about application for these spring shades…

Experiment with thickness of coats and number of coats. I found one thin coat (which might even be streaky) followed by a slightly thicker second coat gave me the results I wanted.

Make sure to use a base coat and top coat. The base coat will give the polish a smoother surface and something better to anchor to, which will help the polish look and feel more even and smooth. (It also helps it last longer!)

Patience is a virtue. You don’t need to wait ten minutes in-between coats, but I would advise waiting anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. Since I went for a fairly thin first coat, I didn’t have to wait long before it was dry enough to layer on a second coat.

Holiday DIVA-lites

Love this Look Tres' Chic
Okay, so I am sitting here in my PJ's sick.  Everyone in the house is sick and I have not been able to write daily like I should.  I am so far behind on articles which I have commented to write for other publications and have not updated any of my sites, so as I was sitting at my home office I decided to write to my Diva Blogger readers.  Writing to you all may jump start me for my other projects!!  I want to share with you just a few of my DIVA-lites for the holiday season.
These tights are on my list of MUST get.  They are "off the chart adorable", at a price tag of 250 they should be!  And the Boots are the bomb.  And of course the purse is a must.  These items Miu Miu.

Thinking about the Holidays is what inspired me to check in with all of you.  Browsing through a few of my catalogs that arrived in the mail, and checking out my sites about fashion in Paris and New York, I came across items that just adore and decided to share just a few of those items that are a must buy for me this Holiday Season.  Glitter nail polish is a MUST do.  I am planning on getting this done ASAP.  There are quite a few lines that are carrying glitter nail polish this season, it just depends on the price that you want to pay.  So go for it.

GOLD is very big this season.  Now I personally prefer to wear silver, but can carry off gold as well.  If however you just don't like gold, then by all means wear your silver, after all fashion is all about YOU putting your own spin on what is in fashion.  If you always know what you are about, then no matter what is in Fashion at the time, you will never be at a lost as to what to wear, because whatever it is, it will always reflect who you are.

Black has been and (in my opinion) will always be in style.  Wear it with lots of pearls and don't forget the gloves.  Or as shown in the photo to the left go all black, how Paris Chic!  Gloves are the It accessory this season, day or night, as you can see in the photo to on the right.  They are a HOT look giving daytime wear a lot of  flair, wear with jeans and you are set to go, LOVE IT.  Add a dash of color in this area if you are incline to do so, maybe bright purple, or yellow, or fushia, just go for it.
Makeup is just as rich and deep in color as the clothing.  Lips are RED or very NUDE either one is awesome just be you!  Price is what you want to spend.

With sooooooooooo many designers doing clothing lines for the likes of Target, Walmart etc  you can get a few inexpensive pieces and mix with some of the more pricey pieces and be a Fashion Icon.  Create.  Be YOU. Develope your own signature style.  Feel comfortable in knowing who you are and what looks good on you what you will and will not do fashion wise.
Bag by Chanel

Well I am going to end this communication for today and go and retire for the rest of the night.  But I will be back.  In the meantime, remember this "A DIVA is a woman who knows who SHE is."
