"HAVE A DIVA-licious DAY"

Did you know that you really should change your make-up with the seasons? It really does reflect on your appearance. Here’s a quick guide on how to do your make-up all year round.

Spring
You aren’t still wearing the same old makeup colors that you wore last winter are you? Spring is coming and there are some great new colors to check out.
For eye shadow, bright bold colors are IN. There are great pinks, deep purples and awesome blues, not to mention oranges, greens etc. to check out as well. Play up your eyes with these new shades.

There are great new mascaras that make eyelashes long and thicker. The look of false lashes can be obtained, creating that spiky look that is soooooooooooo popular. One end fortifies and lengthens the lashes and the other end coats the lashes with lush color. And when they say that is makes your lashes longer… it definitely works that way for me.

I challenge you to test out DivaGlam’s foundations they are definitely worth sharing. They have mineral pressed and loose powder foundations, jojoba liquid foundation as well as HD foundations that give you that airbrushed finish. Specializing in hard to find colors, custom blending different from what is on the market at the moment. And the best part, it offers flawless coverage, but to anyone else, it’s just you.

To blush for this season try a mixture of pink and peach, for lighter complexions, peach and bronze for medium skintones, and bronzer with golden tones for darker skintones. Two colors warm up complexions perfectly. Try mixing the shades that you have and see how it works for you.

Summer
Full face make-up is not really necessary any more (no matter what your age). And in the summer who wants full make-up on their face? Use a tinted moisturizer rather than a regular foundation. Also foundation applied to you t-zone is acceptable and add a sheer powder over entire face after will do very nicely. It will even out your skin tone and is so much lighter.

As far as fragrance goes, keep your summer fragrance light and fresh. A cologne or toilet water spray with some of the new aromatherapy scents is perfect. You can always go back to your regular or a heavier perfume at first frost. Overall, just think light, airy, sunny, and you can’t go wrong with less make-up in the summer.

Remember, “LESS IS MORE”, especially as you get older. Take what you see in magazines and on tv and make it YOUR own, those LOOKS are only guidelines for you to use. If you remember this then you will always be a FASHION DIVA!!!

b’HUE-tifullly yours,

Winter-Licious Foundation

"HAVE A DIVA-licious DAY"

Winter-Licious Foundation

Makeup Foundation for Winter Throughout the year, our makeup needs change just as our wardrobe needs change. Winter is a notoriously hard time of year for the face, which is often the only part of our bodies that are exposed to the elements. Foundation should be considered to be your second skin, only better, so using the right tools can help keep your face looking fresh and natural through the coldest winter months.

During winter, the skin tone can be quite different than it was during the summer months. In order to keep your face looking natural, always choose a foundation that closely matches your skin tone throughout the year. In winter, our skin tone tends to be at its palest, so make sure to test a foundation before you buy it. Try a small amount on your skin and let it set for a couple of minutes, and look at the results in the best light available. Testing is important even if you feel you’ve got a perfect match in the bottle because the natural acid in our skin can change the tint of the foundation. If you tend to experience dryer skin during the winter months, try out a foundation that advertises hydrating properties.

Moisturizer is an essential part of your makeup routine during the winter months. Keeping your skin hydrated will prevent your skin from drying or flaking. Ideally, your moisturizer or foundation should include sunscreen, especially during winter, when the sun can be quite harsh. After your moisturizer is set, apply concealer as you need it. The concealer should also match your skin tone, and it can help hide the appearance of dark circles under the eyes or red blemishes. Finally, apply the foundation lightly with your fingertips. The goal is to use a small amount or all over coverage, which helps keep the face looking fresh and healthy. Remember, you can always add more in areas where you need it.

At DivaGlam Cosmetics we offer Mineral and Liquid Foundation loaded with moisturizers and vitamins to help protect and put back into the skin what nature has taken away. It is also during this time of year when a switch from powder to liquid may be recommended.

Custom blended foundation is also a route you may consider taking as well, we make the foundation to match your skintone exactly. That means for you that it is YOUR FOUNDATION no one else will have the color since it is created especially for you and you alone. Please stop by the site and make an appointment for YOUR custom foundation, treat yourself to a very special Christmas present especially for YOU.

Quick Experiment: Creating nude lips using concealer & gloss

By retail_therapy · December 30, 2009 · 10 Comments · 102 Views

Hi!

One reader was asking me if nude lips can be created using a foundation/concealer followed by a lipgloss... and I thought that would make a rather fun and useful blog post. I tried on two conealer shades in this experiment, and I will explain everything along the way!

Step One: This is my natural lip color without any products.

First I used NYX Concealer in a Jar (Porcelene) which is frankly too pale for me as a concealer. As you can see, this color erases my lip color completely, too pale and ghastly for my liking. It also looks drying, especially on the lower lip.

Then, I applied MAC's Underage lipglass over, for some definition and texture.

Still very pale, but I will show you the whole face to put things into perspective.

Then I tried another concealer, which is the peachy shades in the Ben Nye concealer wheel. These are darker in tone. Again, very drying on the lips. I don't think the difference is very obvious in the pictures.

The verdict?? I think if you like really nude lips, you can certainly try this out! Kind of drying on the lips though, and also, I guess you can do this as a last resort, if you want to explore the whole pale/ nude lips thingy, but not sure if you want to pay for a nude lipstick at MAC or something, because we know it is hard to find a nice nude lipstick at drugstore price range - though I highly recommmend NYX round lipsticks for cheap alternatives.

That's all, and happy holidays!

I am thinking my first entry for 2010 will be a product rave....and I guess you have a pretty good idea what that will be. :)

The DIVA LOOK of the 40's & 50's

This makeup look is inspired by the 40s and 50s, bringing a very sophisticated and glamorous look. Those decades stood out for their sophisticated image of extreme femininity: immaculate complexions, deep eyes and looks, and very red lips. This look will suit all of you, so read on.

Skin

Complexion is key to this season's makeup. To create a clear complexion we must achieve a uniform surface without weighing the skin down with make up. The face must look as natural as possible. Caribbean tans and bright red cheeks are out. This season brings a healthy look, fresh healthy-looking faces. Choose the foundation closest to your skin color. The market offers a huge variety. Perfect Touch by Yves Saint Laurent is a very light foundation that offers amazing results. Its format, with a brush applicator, keeps you from getting dirty fingers. You won't need to use sponges again. Another option is Perfectly Real makeup in Shade by Clinique.  Or don't forget DivaGlam Cosmetics as well.

Eyes

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Eyes are the focus of makeup - catty looks that create an almond-shape effect. Colors don't follow the trend of the 40s and 50s. You can choose the ones which suit you best, but keep in mind that this season we'll be seeing a lot of dark or navy blue, coffee, ochre, and browns in general. Remember to finish off your eyes' look and almond shape with a touch of black. Eyeliner is a strong trend this year. Automatic Eyeliner by Yves Saint Laurent is a good choice. Its incredible precision will make it your perfect ally for the season.

Add mystery to your eyes

To add mystery and glamour to your eyes, you mustn't forget to apply mascara. Choose the one that suits your style best. Black is an all-time favorite, but dark blue is also a good option this season.

Lips

This season's lips come in strong colors. Red tones are a fury, together with the whole range of plum, raspberry and Bordeaux colors. Don't forget to treat them before applying makeup. Remember that firm healthy skin will really improve the way their look. Don't forget to apply lip liner to keep the lipstick from smearing. This season's tones are dark or very defined, so your stroke must be perfect. The shape you give is up to you but a Cupid's bow will make your lips look very sensual.

Nails

When it comes to nails you must choose between two opposites: either bare or dark colored. The latest trend is wearing light colors, white or nearly transparent on your fingernails and black, red, Bordeaux or another very dark color on your toenails. This will create a contrast, giving you a very modern look. Try it out and you'll see how great it looks.

I hope you put this advice into practice so that this coming season your look will be more glamorous than ever.
